Sloane Helicopters sells 10 AW109SP GrandNew helicopters

Sloane Helicopters, the UK/Ireland distributor for Leonardo Helicopters, has sold ten AW109SP GrandNew helicopters, according to a recent statement from the OEM.

In an article on HeliHub.com, Sloane’s Director of Sales and Marketing John Parnell confirmed that six are due for delivery in 2022. The first of these flew from the production line in Italy to the UK at the end of March, pausing briefly in England before continuing across the Irish Sea to a customer Ireland.

No details are being given on the ten purchasers, although Norwich-based SaxonAir have already announced to a media briefing at Biggin Hill in February that they are expecting a new AW109SP in the first quarter of 2023 to replace their existing example.

The global production for the last five years (2017-21) of the AW109SP was 49 units according to figures from trade association GAMA.  With that in context, the achievement of Sloane Helicopters to sell ten is nothing short of phenomenal.
