Scholarship winner Will prepares for an exciting 2022

Will always wanted to be a pilot but he was unsure what route he wanted to go down – rotary or fixed-wing. He looked at many different options but decided that rotary was the right path for him, which is when he contacted Helicentre Aviation. His love for flying helicopters began when he started his PPL(H) in July 2020, where he discovered his appreciation for how the helicopter flies. He put the theory into practice and realised how rewarding it was to be in his position flying helicopters.

Will is due to start his CPL(H) training soon but has not yet decided exactly what he wants to do once it has been completed. There are so many career options with rotary compared to fixed-wing, but he wants to look into a career in Offshore Oil and Gas after his CPL(H) training has concluded. He has also considered completing flight instructor training, so he may well be joining Sam in progressing to become a flight instructor one day.

From what we observe in the industry, there are quite a number of pilots who just started, like Will, on a PPL(H) and decided they liked it so much that they wanted to expand their skills to a commercial licence, instructor rating, and so on.  Learn more by visiting RotorTech UK in June.
